Slendertoxtea Superfoods Review

I previously reviewed the GREAT Slendertoxtea Day and Night Detox Teas (click here to read the review) so was really excited to review their new Superfoods range. These 100% Organic, Vegan and Gluten Free superfoods are a great addition to any diet to promote a healthier lifestyle. I opted for the Chia Seeds, Wheatgrass Powder and Acai Berry Powder. It is safe to say I LOVED trying these and will definitely be purchasing the others in the Superfood range.

Heavenly Dessert Recipe

This recipe I quickly threw together because an urgent dessert was needed when we had some guests over. It turned out a massive hit with everyone and is now my signature dessert,  so I thought I’d share the “recipe” with you all!

Ingredients:

  • Cake of your choice
  • 1 tin of Ambrosia Devon Custard
  • 1 tin of Sainsbury’s own brand custard
  • 284ml tub of Elmlea double cream
  • Icing Sugar (to taste)
  • Madagascan Vanilla (to taste)
  • Biscuits of your choice (I used digestives)
  • Fruit to decorate

Method:

  1. Cut the cake into thin slices and line the bottom of your serving dish.
  2. Pour both tins of custard over the cake.
  3. Add icing sugar and Madagascan Vanilla to the double cream and whip until a thick consistency.
  4. Smooth the whipped cream over the custard, covering the whole dish.
  5. Crush 4/5 biscuits and sprinkle over the cream, creating a layer of biscuit.
  6. Finally decorate with a variety of fruit and ENJOY!

Strawberry Milkshake

Here’s a great strawberry milkshake recipe that’s amazing for summer and for those who are soon to start the month of Fasting (Ramadhan) this is a nice and quick recipe for Iftari time.

Strawberry Milkshake

Ingredients:

– 250g Fresh Strawberries
– 500ml Apple Juice
– 4 scoops of Soft Scoop Vanilla ice-cream

Method:

1) It’s easy… just pop everything in a blender and BLEND!

I hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as I did! This recipe is easily adjusted to accommodate to everyone’s tastes and can be used with different fruits.

Pie Recipe

Here’s a quick and easy recipe for a cheese, onion and potato pie. A great quick meal that’s especially suited to us university students!

Ingredients:

Jus-Rol puff pastry sheets X2
500g cheese (whichever cheese you prefer)
750g onions (diced)
750g potatoes (diced)
Butter (just a tiny bit to line the dish)
Milk or Beaten egg (for a glaze and to help join the pastry)
Salt (to taste)

Method:

  1. Allow the pastry sheets to defrost a couple of hours at room temperature.
  2. Peel and dice the onions and potatoes.
  3. Put the onions and potatoes in a large pot of water (the water should be slightly higher than the onions and potatoes). Add a pinch of salt to the water and allow to boil, the onions and potatoes will go soft to the touch when they are done.
  4. Whilst the onions and potatoes are boiling, get a medium sized oven-proof dish and lightly grease with butter. Un-roll one of the pastry sheets and peel off from the baking paper. Use this to line the dish and cut off any excess pastry.
  5. Once the onions and potatoes have boiled (and are soft), drain off the water and allow to cool slightly. Whilst the mixture is still warm, mash it up with the cheese added. If the mixture is too ‘tough’ add butter until it is at the desired consistency. Add salt to taste.
  6. Put the mixture into the pastry lined dish.
  7. Un-roll the second sheet of pastry and peel off from the baking paper. wash the edge of the pie with milk or beaten egg and use the second sheet to form a lid on the pie and once again cut off any excess. Press down the edges with your thumb or a fork to ensure a tight seal.
  8. With any excess pastry create any desired pattern on the pie and wash all over with the milk or beaten egg. Using a fork create some ventilation holes on the top of the pie.
  9. Put it in the oven at 200°C for 30 mins, or until golden brown.

The Juice Craze

Are you fed up of feeling bloated and tired straight after eating a meal? Are you fed up of wanting to get in all your vitamins and minerals, but don’t fancy eating a plateful of rabbit food? Then this juice recipe is definitely for you! Tastes amazing and combines all the good nutrients that we all need.

Ingredients:

2 Cups of Spinach Leaves
3 Medium Carrots (Peeled & Sliced)
2 Medium Apples (Peeled & Diced)
1/4 Grapefruit (Scoop Out the Grapefruit and Discard of the Skin)
500 ml of any preferred fruit juice or water (depending on taste) – I find tropical fruit juice works best!

Method:

Literally pop in a blender and blend! Yes it’s that easy and if you have a juicer even better!

It may look un-appealing but once you taste it you’ll realise how good it tastes! Please give it a try and let me know of any tweaks that work for you!
