Whilst in London, I was really lucky and got to visit the amazing menswear designer Saran Kohli! The Saran Kohli brand is recognised for combining classic English tailoring with an urban touch. The signature slim cut jackets are made from luxurious silk, wool, velvet and jacquard. The likes of Jay Sean, Mumzy Stranger, H Dhami and many others have been seen in his designs. The Saran Kohli line is geared towards the man looking to reflect his personalised style with hints of global culture and music, in his clothing and he recently launched his new studio in the family run Khubsoorat boutique in South Woodford, London. Read on to hear about where Saran’s inspiration came from and to also see some wonderful photos of his beautiful collection!
Saran graduated from the London College of Fashion in Fashion management and quickly went on to work for Japanese designer Michiko Koshino in PR and marketing. He then worked for Hugo Boss, working his way up to Boss Red/ Black Collection Analyst. Saran later worked as a stylist for VIP clients of Banana Republic. Being the son of legendary UK Asian designer Mani Kohli of Khubsoorat Collection, Saran has been involved int he fashion industry since he was 15.
Saran is also a well-respected dance choreographer and performer who formed the dance group “Snach” at the age of 17. Since then, Snach has been commissioned to perform all over the UK as well as in New York City and India, working with a number of well-respected musicians and featured in their music videos. Today, the designer continues his involvement with Snach choosing to work with the youth to promote urban dance culture alongside other creative dance direction.
