Men Vs Women… Women Vs Men

Gender stereotypes… We think that they haven’t been mentioned since the times of Hobson’s Choice and his shoe shop, but we can’t deny that they aren’t happening today…

The reason why I wanted to write about this was because it annoys me soo much. The fact that people think they are superior to others, when they’re clearly not. I’ve got to admit it is usually men who think they’re better than women so that is what this post will be focusing on. Sorry about sounding opinionated but people need to open their minds and change their views on men and women.

A key place where gender stereotypes arise are in marriages. Marriages where women are expected to stay in the kitchen and men are expected to sit on the sofas lol! Me being a guy who cooks and cleans, I understand how hard women work at home. There’s the questionable belief that because men go out of the house to work, that means that they work harder when in fact there are women at home who work twice as hard whilst looking after the children and the home. This is why we are all equal. We all work equally as hard as each other and are allowed the same responsibilites as each other. Yes, in Islam men should provide for the family but that doesnt mean women cant provide for the family too. There is no harm in a woman going out to work and a man staying at home to look after the kids. Yet there are some people who class it as un-manly and not right…

Another thing that annoys me is domestic abuse… I seriously don’t know how a man can dare to raise his hand to his partner when she has maintained the roof that he lives under. They may think it’s a butch thing to do but I just find it the most cowardly thing to do… A wife is meant to be half of your deen in Islam so how can someone hurt their wife emotionally and physically? What do they seriously gain from it? They should repent for what they have clearly done wrong yet they still go and do it again…

This leads onto the topic of sex determination of a child… In some cultures it is still happening where girls are getting aborted because for some strange reason they are a ‘burden’ on the family… Surely the birth of any child is a time of happiness and celebration so why feel the need to diminish someones life just because it’s a girl. A representation of this is the indian ‘amma ji’ drama on the channel called ‘rishtey.’ Where a mother and daughter were almost killed because of the fact that she bore a daughter and not a son… But yet they somehow find wives even though girls arent allowed to be born?

Anyways back to reality… Without women in our lives we wouldn’t be here today… without these women we wouldn’t have enjoyed our childhood like we have. On a more scientific note, all babies start as female chromosomes until just before 4 months of the pregnancy… So there you go guys, for those of you who think you’re better than women, you were a women at one time of your life. LOL

Some may say that I sound very opinionated and biased but I just care for all the mothers and sisters out there in the world. Ma Sha Allah I’ve never experienced any of these heart-breaking situations but I know people who have. The final moral of this blog is just purely about equality. Yes we should have our different responsibilites within a household but men and women are equal for we are all human beings inhabiting this Earth…

I hope I haven’t made you angry or made you cry, I just wanted you all to take a few minutes out of your day and think about one of the issues in the world we live in today…

Thank You
